“Baldash Cottage” lies about two miles to the north of the centre of Branscombe Village. From the main road system, it is most easily reached via a narrow lane leading from the main A3052 road, roughly midway between Colyton (near Seaton) and Sidford (near Sidmouth). |

| From Axminster: | Take the A358 towards Seaton. After four miles, at the juction with the A3052, turn right towards Sidmouth/Exeter. Pass through Coleford. After a further three miles, look for a turning on the left marked with a sign for Branscombe Village, but do not turn off here. Immediately beyond this turning is a lay-by on the left giving access to the lane (Lockseys Lane - marked with a sign “Unsuitable for heavy vehicles”) which leads towards “Baldash Cottage”. | From Honiton: | Take the A375 towards Sidmouth. After 2½ miles, at the “Hare & Hounds”, turn left towards Farway. After four miles, at the junction with the A3052, turn left towards Seaton. After just over half-a-mile, pass a vehicle lay-by on the right. Two hundred meters beyond this first lay-by is a second lay-by on the right, which gives access to the lane (Lockseys Lane - marked with a sign “Unsuitable for heavy vehicles”) which leads towards “Baldash Cottage”. | From Lyme Regis: | Take the A3052 west bound towards Seaton/Sidmouth/Exeter. After about 5½ miles, pass through Coleford. | From Sidmouth: | On the A3052 road just north of Sidmouth travel east-bound towards Seaton/Lyme Regis. Look for a turning on the left towards Farway/Ottery St.Mary, but continue on for a further half mile, after which you will pass a vehicle lay-by on the right. ... Two hundred yards along Lockseys Lane is an access road on the right (signed as a No Through Road). This leads to “Elverway Farm”. Proceed to the left across the farm yard and take the lane beyond. This leads down the hill along the private drive to &lequo;Baldash Cottage” and Lodge. |

“Baldash Cottage” and “Baldash Lodge” in Branscombe can be reached from two alternative rail stations on the main route from London (Waterloo), via Basingstoke and Salisbury, to Exeter.
If you are travelling from London (Paddington), the Midlands, or Cornwall, you should change at Exeter St.Davids and catch the next train via Exeter Central to Honiton. Exeter St.Davids is served by trains from Bristol, London, Plymouth and Barnstaple. There is also a branch line from the resort town of Exmouth to Exeter. Taxi companies operate at both Axminster and Honiton stations. Please ask us if you need help with booking a taxi. |

Exeter Airport is about 16 miles from “Baldash Cottage” (normally about 25 minutes by car). Exeter Airport offers direct air services to and from such places as Aberdeen, Alicante, Amsterdam, Edinburgh, Guernsey, Isles of Scilly, Jersey, Leeds/Bradford, Manchester and Paris. (More about Exeter Airport here.) Several Car Hire companies have desks at Exeter Airport. Stagecoach Bus operates Route 56/56A between the airport and Exeter central bus station on Mondays to Saturdays. (Route 379 on Sundays and Bank Holidays.) For those with access to a private aircraft, Branscombe Airfield is just over a mile from “Baldash Cottage”, providing you with a convenient overnight stop after landing or before departure. The airfield is privately owned, with a grass airstrip suitable for light aircraft only. Air movements are strictly limited and allowed only with previous permission from the airport manager.
